Ghost
Apple's new M1 chip was unveiled today... What are your thoughts on it? I personally was expecting more physical changes like touchscreen etc. Anyone know of the benchmarks for the new Apple M1 GPU? 1 Quote Founder of BlockForums.org - PM me for any help - Join our Discord Server: https://discord.gg/UPpQy3n
buzzkillb
Ordered a Macbook Pro with 16gb ram and 512gb storage as soon as they said its for sale. I think Apple is going to knock this out of the park. Windows and Intel have become stagnant. Now its time for AMD Linux and Apple to make their push for some real competition.
Ghost
I was debating between the Macbook Air M1 or the Mac Mini M1.....Mac Mini kinda seems more viable for my purposes... The lack of eGPU support from the M1 chip though is a huge downside to 1st gen technology. 1 Quote Founder of BlockForums.org - PM me for any help - Join our Discord Server: https://discord.gg/UPpQy3n
buzzkillb
The Air is already sexy, but I guess have to wait for benchmarks to see how these all differ. Seems easy enough to get a Mini and then VNC or something into it from another laptop. Maybe until the 2nd or 3rd generation laptops with thinner bezels come out.

I'll let you know how it runs. Carsen and I were just talking about much better MacOS runs over the resource intensive Windows OS. I can barely do anything in VS with only 8GB of RAM on Windows but Carsen says that's plenty for a MacBook so I'm really looking forward to seeing that performance difference.

Yes, seems benchmarks so far coming out are looking good! M1 beats the current latest Intel Core i9 processor in their 16" Macbook Pros! I think the RAM optimization especially with the new M1 chip and unified memory will make for a insane amount of performance. 1 Quote Founder of BlockForums.org - PM me for any help - Join our Discord Server: https://discord.gg/UPpQy3n
Ghost
Just joined the M1 gang gang. Hoping to get mine when the influencers do around the 17th.....Expect Denarius and Kronos support on latest macOS Quote Founder of BlockForums.org - PM me for any help - Join our Discord Server: https://discord.gg/UPpQy3n
Ghost
Got the Mac Mini M1 and I must say, the hype is real. Rosetta 2 emulation on Denarius and Kronos both seem snappy and buttery smooth. I plan to compile these to native darwin arm soon.
